Property Concern? Get Remote Advice by Video Call
26 October 2026
Have you noticed cracking, damp staining, poor workmanship or a repair that does not look finished? It can be difficult to know whether the issue needs a builder, a surveyor or a specialist—and what to do next.
NW Snag Surveys offers remote property advice by live video call. You show Andrew Kerrigan, RPSA Tech, the visible concern while he guides you through the relevant area and helps you understand sensible next steps.
How does the video call work?
You operate the camera on your phone while Andrew asks you to show the concern and its surroundings. He may ask for a wider view, a closer look, or photographs of particular details. You can also explain when the issue appeared and show any previous repairs or relevant reports.
The first step is a WhatsApp enquiry. Send the property town or postcode, a short description of the issue and two or three clear photographs. Andrew will consider whether the concern appears suitable for remote guidance or whether an in-person inspection would be more appropriate.
What can remote property advice help with?
A video review may be useful for discussing visible concerns such as:
- cracking to walls, ceilings, render or masonry;
- damp staining or visible mould;
- poor plastering or decorative finishes;
- damaged or unfinished new-build work;
- doors or windows that do not operate as expected;
- visible defects in completed repair work;
- questions about findings in an existing property report.
Depending on what can be seen and the service agreed, Andrew may help you identify what further photographs or information to collect, what questions to ask a builder or contractor, and whether further investigation may be advisable.
Remote guidance or an in-person inspection?
Remote advice is based on the live video call, photographs and information provided. It is a visual, non-intrusive service: Andrew does not physically attend the property as part of a remote review, and only the areas clearly shown can be considered.
Lighting, access, camera quality and the limits of a video view can make some issues difficult or impossible to assess remotely. A video call cannot confirm concealed conditions or replace testing, measurement or a full physical survey. Where more investigation is needed, Andrew will explain that and discuss whether an in-person inspection or another professional may be the better next step.
Agree the service before booking
The type of advice, any written summary and the fee depend on the concern and the time or work involved. The scope and price will be discussed and agreed before an appointment is booked. Sending an initial WhatsApp enquiry does not commit you to proceeding.
If the concern is urgent, involves an immediate safety risk or requires specialist testing, explain that in your first message. Remote guidance may not be suitable in every situation.
